Apple, orange, almond & sweet potato juice

This drink has a full and fresh taste. The apple and orange provide many vitamins and a fresh, slightly sour taste. The combination of sweet potatoes and almonds provide a lot of dietary fiber and is enough to supplement your organism with the necessary potassium and protein daily allowances.

The juice takes a little more preparation time if you are going to make the almond milk yourself, but it is definitely worth it!

Ingredients

  • 1 apple
  • 1 orange
  • 1/2 cup of almond milk / 20 raw almonds
  • 1 raw sweet potato

Preparations

Make the almond milk separately in a blender. If you add the  almonds directly in the slow-juices together with water,  chance is that little almond milk will be added to your juice.
Soak around 20 almonds in water for 1 night. No time to soak the almonds 1 night in advance? Then soak the almonds in warm water for at least 30 minutes.
Rinse the almonds and add them in a blender.
Add water: About 1 part almonds with 3 parts water.
Mix till almonds are fine. You can sieve the milk before adding.

Not fond of almond milk? Replace the almond milk for any other kind of milk

Directions

  • Wash the apple and potato and peel if desired.
  • Peel the orange.Cut apple into medium pieces and remove the core.
  • Cut sweet potato and orange into medium pieces.
  • Slow Juicer: add pieces of apple, orange and sweet potato.
  • Add the almond milk to the apple, orange and sweet potato juice.

You use saw sweet potato?!

Yes, sweet potatoes do not belong to the potato family, for that you can use it raw, and is not toxic as with regular raw potatoes.

Some nutrition facts and benefits of oranges, apples, almonds and sweet potato:

Oranges are most famous for the many Vitamin C. The orange is also full of potassium and dietary fiber. Eating and drinking fresh orange juice appear to prevent the risk of kidney stones
Apples are a good source of vitamin C. The main mineral is potassium.
They are very rich in important antioxidants and in fiber: insoluble and soluble fibers. Soluble fiber is associated with numerous health benefits, partly because it feeds the friendly bacteria in your gut
Sweet potato has many vitamins (A, C, B5, B6 and E), minerals (sodium, potassium) and many complex carbohydrates. That means that our digestion processes them slowly so that the energy from carbohydrates (glucose) slowly enters our blood. This keeps your blood sugar levels constant.
Almonds are an excellent source of vitamin E and manganese, are high in fiber and potassium and low in sodium, and have a positive effect on cholesterol and blood pressure

How long can I store this juice?

Easily you can store the juice in a sealed jar or cup in the fridge up to 48 hours.

Fresh juice in the freezer!

If you make lager amount of juice, you can keep the glasses or jars in the freezer.
Don’t forget to keep some room at the top of the glass or jar for expansion while freezing!
Freezing a fresh juice does not destroy the minerals, vitamins or enzymes.
And the flavor does not decrease either.
It seems you can store the drinks up to 3 months without degrading the nutrition or the flavor. Some say it can be even up to 6 months
